Once the decision has been made to move to Mallorca, parents of school-age children ask themselves one of the most important questions:

Which school should my child go to?

Good planning is required to ensure that children can start or continue their school career as uncomplicated as possible. This decision, of course, also has an important impact on choosing the suitable residential property, as the rented or purchased property should be located nearby the school. Mallorca’s southwest is one of the most popular destinations. In addition to many public and private Spanish schools, Mallorca also offers an impressive selection of international schools, as “island children from abroad” are nothing new for the popular Balearic Island.

The South West is the perfect location close by many international schools

The largest selection of international schools can be found in the municipality of Calvia and around Palma, 5 international schools are in this area and offer children a multilingual school education (English, German, French, Spanish and Catalan)  orientated by the  educative systems from Germany, Norway and England. Apart from these, there are several smaller private school projects on the island which were initiated by the parents’ initiatives. But these should be well thought-over, because in some of them they are not recognized by the official ministry of state education.  Some foreign schools on the Balearic Islands need not only the admission from the Spanish school authorities, but also from the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.
